Alopecia is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks hair follicles.  The second most common form of hair loss dermatologists see is a condition called Telogen Effluvium; a form of non-scarring alopecia characterized by diffuse hair shedding, often with an acute onset.

Solutions for Hair Loss

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a permanent solution for women with thinning areas on the crown and top of their heads. SMP creates the illusion of a full head of hair by creating an under-layer.

For women with alopecia, SMP eliminates having to handle consistent spot balding. SMP is also used in camouflaging scars with the blending of surgical scars and temples of the face.

Scalp Micropigmentation may stimulate hair growth in some cases. With repeated insertions of the needle into the dermal layer of the skin is known to stimulate, or bring back, the hair follicles. Every treatment is tailored specifically to each person’s needs.

How does Micropigmentation Work?

When implanting our organic pigments, the hair color is matched perfectly based on skin tone. With scalp micropigmentation clients receive the look of a fuller head of hair.

During the procedure the needle impressions are done softly, breaking up the frontal hairline to create a more natural look. Denser impressions are added to the top of the thinning hair. This provides the maximum illusion of density because it reduces the contrast in the shades of color between the scalp and the hair.

Each individual client’s pain threshold is different. The procedure is generally quite painless, and most clients experience only a small amount of discomfort and may experience a mild sensitivity throughout the procedure. We find that women tend to have a higher tolerance than men.

A typical procedure requires two to four sessions to acquire the desired results. Each session is performed one week or more apart.

Is it detectable?

Scalp micropigmentation has become such an effective hair loss solution because of its consistently natural and undetectable results. IHL prides itself on the ability to seamlessly replicate each individual hair follicle to create a perfect match for each client.

Is it detectable?How many treatments should I expect?

Scalp micropigmentation should never be considered a one treatment process. Most clients can expect between 2-4 sessions to complete their treatment depending on the extent of hair loss or scarring. These treatments are usually spaced about 5- 7 days apart.

How long do the results last?

After completion of your treatment (3-4 sessions) a client should expect the strength of the color to last for many years. Over a longer term, a client will very gradually begin to notice slight lightening (not discolor) of the treatment. When this occurs they can undergo a brief “touch up” session to restore any fading and secure many more years of their style.

Can Scalp Micropigmentation camouflage my transplant scar?

Yes! By replicating tiny hair follicles inside the scarring and blending the color around the scarring area, transplant and surgical scars can see massive improvement in concealment.
